EMF is not a forward-looking funding route for a new promotion activity after 30 June 2026. Some reimbursement deadlines remain relevant for qualifying activities already completed by that date.
The final-period rule
The Trade and Industry Department states that only applications involving eligible promotion activities completed on or before 30 June 2026 will be processed. Reimbursement applications must normally be submitted within 60 calendar days after completion, using Hong Kong time to determine deadlines.
This creates a short administrative tail rather than a new project opportunity. If the activity is already complete, calculate the deadline from the official examples and gather the contract, invoice, payment proof and activity evidence immediately.
What comes next
EMF is being consolidated into the BUD Fund. From 1 July 2026, businesses planning exhibitions, e-commerce promotion or other market-development work should begin with the current BUD guide and confirm that the target market, applicant and spending plan fit the new route.
Avoid deadline assumptions
A trade show date is not always the only date that matters. Online components, advertising periods and platform contracts can affect when an activity is considered complete. Use the official FAQ for the activity type and do not rely on a general blog summary.
